Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get started with DuChateau Midwifery?
Just reach out to me through my contact form, phone, or email. I’ll help you set up a free consultation so we can connect, answer your questions, and see if my care feels like the right fit for your family.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes! I’d love to meet you for a Zoom consultation. It’s a chance for us to talk about your goals, hear your vision for your birth, and see if homebirth feels right for you.
What areas do you serve?
I care for families in Los Angeles and the nearby areas. During our consultation, I’ll confirm if your home is within my range.
What services do you provide?
I offer full midwifery care—from prenatal visits, home birth support, and postpartum check-ins, to newborn care, well-woman exams, Pap smears, IV therapy, SneakPeek Gender DNA testing, and birth debrief sessions.
What should I expect at my first appointment?
At your first prenatal visit, we’ll go over your health history, do any basic labs if needed, and spend time talking about your birth plan and preferences. My goal is for you to feel safe, supported, and truly heard.
Do you accept insurance?
I don’t accept insurance. However, I do provide clients with an itemized superbill at the end of care as well as instructions on how to submit this to insurance for reimbursement of a percentage - or sometimes the entirety - of the cost of care.
What if I need hospital care during my birth?
Your safety always comes first. If a transfer to the hospital is ever needed, I’ll stay by your side and coordinate with the hospital team to make sure you and your family feel supported every step of the way.
Can my partner, family, or doula be involved?
Of course! I love when birth teams are present—whether that’s your partner, family, doula, or a close friend. This is your birth space, and you have the freedom to be surrounded by the people you choose for support.
How do I know if homebirth is right for me?
Homebirth is a great option for healthy, low-risk pregnancies. If that is you, and you instinctively feel that laboring in your own familiar setting would optimize your birthing experience and allow you to feel more safe and secure - homebirth is right for you.
When should I contact a midwife?
The sooner, the better! Many families reach out in the first trimester, but it’s never too late to begin care—I’ll meet you where you are.
Do you offer postpartum support?
Yes, I do. I’ll visit you at home four times after your baby is born to check on your healing, your baby’s health, support breastfeeding, and talk about how you’re feeling during such a big transition.
How do I book an appointment?
You can book through my website, call me, or send me an email. We would meet for a 30-45 minute online consultation, and if it feels like a good fit then we would discuss a time for your first in-home prenatal appointment.
